Iran Situation Update – April 20, 2026

DAILY SUMMARY

The situation in the Middle East remains elevated despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel, the U.S., and Iran. The failure to reach a resolution during the Islamabad discussions raises concerns on the durability of the two-week ceasefire, amid increasing maritime pressure as the U.S. implemented a blockade of Iranian ports, and Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, and threatened to conduct retaliatory kinetic action.

Major airspace across the Middle East reopened since the two week ceasefire agreement. Should hostilities resume short notice airspace closures are likely to reoccur.
