Iran War Enters Third Week as Energy Infrastructure and Shipping Disruption Intensify:

The war in Iran has entered its third week marked by sustained strikes on strategic infrastructure and maritime disruption. Following U.S. air operations, including a large-scale bombing of Iran’s Kharg Island, a critical node in Iran’s energy export system, military exchanges have continued across multiple domains, including air, missile, proxy militia activity, and maritime operations. Iran has continued to intensify retaliatory measures , including missile and drone strikes against energy facilities and logistics infrastructure across Gulf states and Israel. Several desalination and oil-storage facilities in Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman have been targeted, demonstrating a shift toward attacks on economic and civilian-critical infrastructure rather than solely military sites. At the same time, Iranian forces have attacked and harassed multiple commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, damaging cargo ships and threatening tankers associated with U.S. or allied states. As a result of the global oil demand, the International Energy Agency has responded by releasing emergency crude reserves to stabilize markets, while European officials have called for diplomatic efforts to reopen shipping lanes and restore safe navigation through the Gulf. The military trajectory shows neither side is preparing for de-escalation in the immediate term. Iran’s leadership has indicated the pressure on regional shipping and energy infrastructure will remain a key strategic lever, while U.S. and Israeli forces continue to target Iranian command networks, missile systems, and proxy capabilities across the region.

We advise executives and corporations to continue to closely monitor energy markets and supply chains through the Gulf, or regional aviation hubs may face prolonged delays, higher insurance premiums, and sudden operational disruptions.

Twin Attacks in Virginia and Michigan Heighten U.S. Domestic Security Concerns:

Two separate attacks targeted community institutions in Virginia and Michigan, raising security concerns across the U.S. At Old Dominion University in Norfolk, a former Virginia National Guard member previously convicted of attempting to support Islamic State opened fire inside a classroom of Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (ROTC) students, killing an instructor and injuring two others before students subdued and killed the attacker. Hours later in West Bloomfield Township, a U.S. citizen of Lebanese origin drove a vehicle carrying explosives into a synagogue, triggering a fire and injuring a security guard. Officials stated the synagogue attack appears to have targeted the Jewish community due to the current Middle East conflict. The incidents demonstrate an elevated domestic threat environment as global tensions continue to influence extremist behavior. Lone-actor attacks inspired by ideological grievances or retaliation against perceived military or religious targets remain the most likely targets in the short term, and increased security around universities, religious institutions, and public gatherings is expected nationwide.

We advise travelers to remain vigilant in crowded public venues, university campuses, and areas near religious institutions where security presence may increase. We also encourage companies to reinforce employee awareness guidance in this heightened threat environment.

The FBI Issues California Drone Threat Alert Amid U.S.-Iran Tensions:

The FBI issued a nationwide warning to law enforcement in California regarding a potential Iranian drone strike originating from an unidentified vessel off the U.S. coast. Governor Gavin Newsom described the situation as a “critical” threat and confirmed state agencies are coordinating with federal authorities to monitor and mitigate risks. No additional details on perpetrators or target locations were provided, and the alert emphasizes the unpredictability of overseas conflicts influencing domestic security.

We advise executives and business travelers to California and across the country maintain heightened situational awareness, avoid high-risk or crowded areas where strategic or symbolic targets may be located and follow official guidance from local authorities.
